Miss Carrollton, DaNae Couch, was named first runner-up. Other top finishers were Miss Grapevine, Ashley Melnick, second runner-up; Miss Fort Worth, Faith Bates, third runner-up; and Miss Frisco, Kathryn Dunn, fourth runner-up.

Blair said her hobbies are music, as well as traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Blair, 22, of Southlake had dazzled the audience at Texas Hall at the University of Texas
at Arlington with her vocal range while singing an aria from a Puccini opera.

Along with her title, the new Miss Texas wins a $12,000 scholarship and a chance to compete in the Miss America pageant.
The Miss Fort Worth and Miss North Texas Pageants—official preliminaries to Miss Texas
and Miss America—provide young women between the ages of 18-24 the opportunity to promote their voices in culture, politics and the community while earning valuable scholarships. The Miss America Organization is the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women and one of the nation's leading achievement programs. Contestants compete in interview, talent, evening wear, on-stage question, and physical fitness in swimwear.
The Miss Teen Fort Worth Pageant—an official preliminary to Miss Teen Texas and Miss America's Outstanding Teen—provides young women between the ages of 13-17 the opportunity
to promote scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community
involvement for America's teens. Contestants complete in interview, talent, evening wear, on-stage question, and physical fitness in aerobic wear.
A total of 36 contestants vied for Miss Texas.

"It’s one of the largest self-improvement programs that any young lady has the opportunity to participate in," said Jean Magness, executive director of the Miss Texas and Miss Teen Texas pageants.
"The guys get to portray their talents on the football field. This is a way for young women to perform their talent on a stage."
